Privacy on the Move

We work towards increased awareness of the risks and opportunities presented by location data. Privacy on the Move is part of the MODAP project.

Mobility
Your location and movements can be tracked in many ways: your cellphone informs your phone company about your movement. Banks have logs of the location of your credit card transactions. Your vacation photos may contain GPS coordinates.

Data Mining
Location data have many applications. Geo-marketing and traffic analysis, just to mention two.

Privacy
Location data, however, also presents a new risk: your location data can be (mis)used to map your movements.
